I want to use more colour, more hand rendered techniques, patterns etc.
I also want to know how to make patterns on Illustrator, which I researched into and actually managed.
i began with this awful page design which was in your face and boring. I wanted to add pattern onto it, Stranger and Stranger have inspired me to try and be more detailed.
Here I'm working out how to use patterns and create them.
I've also been inspired by Sagmeister and Walsh's design for the Jewish Museum in America.
Although I like the design with more circles I don' think it works well for my personal design style.
I looked at using different opacities in the colour to see if I liked it anymore but I didn't.
I used the pen tool to create the pattern and smooth tool to make it look a bit better. I didn't like this heart shape pattern at all.
I drew this with the pen and really liked it. It's laid back which is like my design process and easy to look at. It's not too harsh or busy on the page.
Text ideas - I want to use this as a reminder to change the way I work and it's like a self help book so I've just put things in to help me remember how I should work. Like not leaving as soon as possible or to leave the blog till the day the before.
I played around with the way I could present my type. Coloured text, coloured text boxes, drop shadows etc. I decided to go with a white text box with the colour of the pattern on the stroke and black text.
On the back page, it doesn't need much information. I went with green because it's a friendly soft colour and with a similar pattern looks good. It doesn't distract from the text and looks good.
